P.O.S.T. RESERVE POLICE OFFICERS

IT'S NOT A JOB. IT'S AN HONOR TO SERVE!

Become a Colorado P.O.S.T. Certified Reserve Police Officer!

Already P.O.S.T. Certified?

If you have a current Colorado P.O.S.T. Certification (Basic or Reserve), you may apply now to become a Reserve Police Officer with the Colorado Rangers without needing to attend our Reserve Police Academy.

Not P.O.S.T. Certified?

You may apply now to attend our P.O.S.T. Reserve Police Academy in Class 9 which has been rescheduled due to the COVID-19 impact and it will begin soon in late summer or early fall.  Classes are held on Saturday + Sunday across most weekends along with some Friday evenings.  The timeline is short to complete your application processing for Class 9 in 2020 so don't delay!

Academy Tuition

As an approved Colorado Ranger Recruit you will have a duty commitment of a minimum of 240 hours in total with our agency across your first two (2) years of service in return for attending our Colorado P.O.S.T. Reserve Police Academy without paying tuition.  This a very significant value worth many thousands of dollars.

Agency Sponsored

To support other agencies that do not have their own P.O.S.T. Reserve Police Academy program, we offer a limited number of slots in our Academy classes.  In this case, another law enforcement agency accepts you and pays the tuition for you to attend our P.O.S.T. Reserve Police Academy.

Self-Funded

For those who want to acquire the Colorado P.O.S.T. Reserve Certification now and then apply to a Colorado law enforcement agency later as a Reserve Police Officer or Reserve Deputy, we also offer a very limited number of slots where you pay the tuition.

Founded in 1861, the Colorado Rangers served as the first statewide law enforcement agency.

The Colorado Rangers Law Enforcement Shared Reserve (CLER) was formed as a statewide government and P.O.S.T. Certified Law Enforcement Agency supporting numerous Law Enforcement agencies and governments throughout Colorado as their police reserves.  CLER operates under the original 1861 agency name of Colorado Rangers with Colonel Ronald Abramson as Agency Chief.

The Colorado Rangers operate their own P.O.S.T. Certified Reserve Police Academy which graduated eight (8) classes through 2019.  Academy Class 9 begins on May 29, 2020.  Agency strength is projected to reach over 200 Police Officers in 2021.

Rangers perform their duties without any compensation in order to give back to the communities as well as to support and serve alongisde those who have chosen Law Enforcement as a career.
